Client Need:
The Levitt Center for University Advancement serves as a welcoming and meeting center for strategic advancement purposes. It includes office space for the University of Iowa Foundation, the University of Iowa Alumni Association, and the University’s Division of Alumni Services and Records. In addition to office spaces, the building provides spaces for public meetings, banquets, and receptions.

BBS Approach:
BBS was the Architects and Engineers of Record with Gwathmey Siegel and Associates Architects as the Design Architect.

Project Results:

  • The primary public presentation of the building is the rotunda which is oriented to the Iowa River.
  • The rotunda establishes the primary image, form and presence of the building, and is positioned on the east end of the site.
  • Juxtaposed to the west of the rotunda is the office block portion of the building, which serves the three departments stated above.
  • The building was designed with architectural distinction, incorporating contemporary materials of glass block and powder coated aluminum panels, as well as Indiana limestone, which is found on many campus buildings.
