Abe Contreras is an Electrical Engineer with five years of experience in the industry. He graduated from Iowa State University in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Early in his career, he started working in the construction and management of fiber network infrastructure for a local ISP, gaining hands-on experience in field installation and large-scale multi-unit projects.
He joined BBS in 2023 as an Electrical Engineer, building on his prior field experience while developing expertise in electrical power distribution, lighting design, fire alarm systems, fiber and low-voltage systems, and BIM coordination across commercial, educational, military, and infrastructure projects. He works extensively in Revit to develop coordinated electrical models and construction documents and maintains working knowledge of AutoCAD.
In addition to design work, Abe has become increasingly involved in construction administration and project coordination, working closely with field teams and multidisciplinary consultants to help translate design intent into buildable solutions. He enjoys the practical side of engineering where design decisions are shaped by real-world construction and coordination.
