Luz embarked on her architectural journey as a summer intern at BBS in 2024. However, her passion for this career path traces back to her high school days, where she proactively pursued her interests by engaging in various clubs like the ACE mentor program, Girls for Construction, Science Bound, and Adventures in Architecture. Being originally from Hidalgo, Mexico, Luz has called Des Moines home for most of her life. A 2025 graduate from Iowa State University, Luz majored in Architecture with a minor in Urban Studies, driven by her fascination with art, environmental sustainability, and the desire to positively impact communities. She wants to use her creativity and cultural background to bring meaning to projects and communities.
